Dan Gray
Executive Director
Dan Gray serves as the Executive Director of Power Up Local, a pioneering new non-profit dedicated to unlocking the potential of locally led clean energy projects incubated within the Fund for Our Economic Future. Power Up Local serves as a nonprofit advisory team to public utilities, city and county leaders, and community partners.
Previously Dan served as the President Emeritus and Director of Local Strategies of Citizens Utility Board of Ohio, a pro-clean energy consumer advocacy organization, where Dan has specialized on municipal utility reform as an avenue for quick and consumer friendly policy innovation. His recent focus in both positions has been on local IRA implementation, including serving on the leadership teams of two successful Ohio’ based grants, totaling over $285 million. Highlights of this experience include:
- Solar For All ($156 Million) – Serving on the leadership team of the Industrial Heartland Solar Coalition, a multi-state application to deliver solar to 20,000 low income HHs across the Midwest.
- Community Pollution Reduction Grant ($129 Million) – Served on the leadership team of the Northeast Ohio application, co-designing the application approach of linking solar development across three different municipal utilities under a united approach.
Additionally, he has expansive previous experience in activism in both the private and non-profit sectors, having founded a startup based on digital energy efficiency implementation and almost a decade in political organizing across the country. In his work in politics, he helped elect two governors, a senator and multiple members of Congress across the US.
Dan proudly serves on the Board of the Ohio Environmental Council. He received a BA in political science from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from the Ohio State University.
